They got us? Totally comfortable, but not anything we need to rush out and buy for our own home. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. It was spacious and comfortable, but we could hear a lot of noise going on outside. Red walls, red chairs, red blankets, and strangely enough a white carpet with red swirls. We stayed in a premium room which has a bright red theme running through it. What’s the crowd like? Downtown Las Vegas tourists. Plus, it’s two quick blocks from the Fremont Street Experience. There are several restaurants and bars to dine at, including Pizza Rock, and a rooftop pool scene. The hotel still has a casino on the ground floor (and a stylish one at that) but upstairs, the guest rooms are quite modern, if a bit too heavy on the Z Gallerie-esque decor. How did it strike you on arrival? The Downtown Grand is downtown Vegas’ attempt at a boutique hotel, free of the Vegas hotel mandate for kitschy themes–– unless you count the industrial-chic vibe that’s apparent from the moment you pull up.
